Biography

The life of the Kupreevs changed dramatically in June 2024, when their house was searched by law enforcement officers. Pavel's faith was the reason why a criminal case was opened against him under two articles, which led to serious consequences for the family.

Pavel was born in August 1987 in Baku (Azerbaijan). His parents are no longer alive. In childhood and adolescence, he was engaged in boxing, dreamed of working as a coach in this sport. After school, Pavel mastered the profession of auto mechanic, but did not work in his specialty. He later became a firefighter.

According to Pavel, he has always read the Bible, went to the Orthodox Church, but began to study this book deeply in 2007 with Jehovah's Witnesses. He loved everything he learned, so a year later he decided to live by Bible standards.

In 2015, Pavel married Fariza, whom he met at one of the worship meetings. She, like Paul, was interested in the questions of life and death from childhood and found answers to them in the Bible. Fariza worked as an accountant and then learned hairdressing and worked in this field for 9 years.

Pavel loves to play sports and read books. Fariza shares her husband's passion for sports—she loves to swim, play volleyball and skate. The couple spend their free time traveling and visiting family and friends.

The criminal prosecution caused a lot of stress for the family. Pavel said: "When people come to your house and search for your personal belongings, you begin to live with the feeling that you are constantly being watched. It's a lot of trouble."

Case History

In June 2024, the Investigative Committee in Tatarstan opened a criminal case under parts 1 and 2 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. At the end of July, the homes of five of Jehovah’s Witnesses were searched. Pavel Kupreyev was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility for two days. He was later released on summon to report.
